This video is two videos in one, a ground level video at the Heritage Hospital signal, and an aerial drone video facing east over Auburn Blvd between Winding Way and past the Heritage Oaks Hospital intersection (I-80 WB/EB Ramps), and beyond to the Orange Grove Avenue intersection. This video also shows samples of the signal timing operation at the Auburn / I-80 Ramps intersection and a countdown arrow for the specific movements shown. In the latter part of the video, a high speed (8X speed) aerial regional view follows which helps to visually establish the strong dominant movements of the regional traffic patterns, and shows which segments or parts of the roadway are most heavily impacted with delays during a late am time period (in this video it was between 8:15 am and 8:45, and shows that traffic volumes in this region of roadways are busy for far longer than just a peak hour, and is in fact heavy for several hours). Auburn Blvd is a heavily used four lane arterial that parallels freeway traffic and carries some of unloading and offloading from the Business 80 and Interstate 80 freeways.
October 25, 2023, 7:42 am to 8:30 am, shown at 8X speed.
The next video is an aerial summary of regional traffic patterns which includes the Heritage Oaks Hospital site. The couplet of Winding Way - Auburn Blvd - Freeway 80 Ramps is featured , showing the locations of long lines (queues) of traffic that are congested to get through the capacity constraints.
